welcome to The Wisdom of your Hips

Hello dear woman, this is your invitation journey to explore the profound wisdom of your hips, a central point of energy and emotion in your body and is interconnected with so many other layers of our physical, emotional and energetic bodies. Together, we will cultivate a safe, nurturing and supportive space to connect with our bodies, release tension, and embrace the duality of strength AND openness, boundaries AND receptivity through the gateway of the hips and the pelvis.

This is for any woman who might be curious how releasing tension (whilst creating stability) will help cultivate inner power in life, but also a profoundly supportive space for women who are transitioning through the rite of passage of menopause (peri and post).

The Journey

5 Weeks of yoga postures, movement,

breath, connection and embodied inquiry to unlock your hips.

​

Beginning Thursday 20th March 5.30pm-7.15pm

 

                                        

 

 

The Essence - your willingness to open to MORE of you!

​

The essence of this Wisdom of the Hips journey is an invitation for you to slow down and explore, through movement, breath and presence, what we notice when we invite our awareness to this area of our body, that holds so much.  Every time we brace or tense up this area tightens and contracts cutting us off from our ground and our ability to trust and lean in to and/or to open ourselves to the fullness of who we are and the pulse of life.

 

There is a lot that is written that we hold our emotions in our hips, and yes that is true but I believe we hold our emotions everywhere in our body.  This is an invitation to explore, as deeply or lightly as you choose, to discover what in might be like to find a way to unwind the hips, pelvis, lower back, diaphrams, coccyx... all of these intertwined pieces of this region of our body.

The hips relate both to the lower two chakras but more specifically our sacral chakra, which governs our emotions, our creativity, our life force power (sexual energy) and is connected to one of our deep wisdom centers.  it is a place of nurturance and a birthing portal.

 

 

What to expect

​

Throughout this course we will focus on the themes that honor your body’s natural rhythms and help you unlock your life force energy, inner safety and our ability to let go.  Here is how our journey might unfold.

​

Week 1 - Connecting to our Diaphragms

Discovering the diaphragms essential role in breath and vitality and creating movement and flow.

 

Week 2 – Releasing Tension around the Pelvic Floor

The relationship between our breath, holding patterns, tension in the hips, tailbone, anus, pelvic floor and softening.  While we often think our pelvic floor might be too loose often, because of our constant tensioning and protecting around this area we have a numb and tight pelvic floor which can cause, lower back pain, hip pain, incontinence and more.

 

Week 3. Balancing Strength and relaxation.

Our hips connect our lower body to our upper, they provide direction, stability and the ability to play and be fluid.

 

Week 4. Attention to sensation, joy and pleasure

Reconnecting with joy and pleasure through mindful movement and flowing playful sequences.

 

Week 5. Releasing our old stories.

How we can use our breath, intention, surrender and subtle movement to release old patterns and stories.

All levels welcome but some previous experience in yoga may serve you well.

I am inviting you to let your body wisdom guide you to saying YES or NO to this course.

 

 Let yourself be guided by your intuition. Do you notice a pull to have a deeper relationship with yourself beyond just the physical OR maybe this is an area that physically you know you want to address...

 

Working with the body can be a place to develop a deeper trust with yourself, with the wisdom of  YOUR body.

The cost/exchange for this course

$150 if paid before  March 3rd

$170 after March 3rd

can be paid in 2 x installments of $85

​

Course includes 5 x classes from 5.30pm to 7.15pm Thursday evenings beginning 20th March - 17th April.

​

Daily/weekly (invitational) practices to keep you in the space of cultivating unwinding your hips and developing a self-practice.

​

A trauma aware positive space based on safety, permission and connection.

​

Direct support from me over the 5 weeks.

About me - your teacher and guide - Jody Brown

JODY BROWN has spent years cultivating practices in embodiment, somatic therapy, and inquiry. Jody has been has been a yoga student for over 20 years and teaching since 2012.  As a teacher she invites participants to lean into the wisdom of their bodies, embracing choice and authentic movement. Her work encourages you to find your own truth and joy through the body’s wisdom.
